SY26 Back to School Mailing
The SY26 back to school mailing, including updated bus stop information, will be mailed in early August. Information will also be posted in the Students and Families section of the BART website here.
Fall Athletics
Soccer and Cross Country start up in August. Cross Country running is open to all students; students in grades 8 - 12 may try out for soccer. Take a break from your summer reading to keep your muscles engaged – read on to learn what to do in July and August to be ready for fall sports.
Soccer Conditioning
Prospective soccer players should arrive at fall tryouts able to run a 10-minute mile. This is an excellent goal – (get it? soccer joke!) – but not a training requirement.
Cross Country Conditioning
To have the most productive Cross Country season, students should build their running endurance over the summer and run a 10-minute mile by the start of the season. To accomplish this:
- Run 3-4 times a week, stretch every day, and walk 1-2 times a week.
- Beginner: Start @15 minutes per run and add 5 minutes to your runs every two weeks.
- Mid: Start @ 20 minutes per run and add 5 minutes to your runs every two weeks.
- Advanced: Start @ 25 minutes per run and add 5 minutes to your runs every two weeks.
- Log your XC summer miles here.
To increase your running stamina:
- Run first thing in the morning or when the sun is going down to avoid the heat.
- Start super chill and easy. Then run a little faster every 5 minutes. Push yourself hard for the last 5 minutes. You will build stamina and confidence for the last mile of your 5k races!
- Run hills! Runners who improve their speed up and down hills see the biggest gains come cross country season!
