The Board of Trustees is responsible for the success of the school. When the school is evaluated by the state, they will ask three questions: Is the school an academic success? Is the school true to the terms of its charter? Is the school a viable organization? The Board of Trustees committees are organized to ensure the school can answer these three questions in the affirmative.
CHARTER AND ACCOUNTABILITY COMMITTEE: The purpose of the Charter and Accountability Committee is to facilitate communication between management and the Board of Trustees about issues that may deviate from or require interpretation of the charter. The Charter and Accountability Committee meets to discuss issues such as changes in the daily school schedule or changes to the annual school calendar.
DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE: In order to achieve it's mission, BArT must raise additional resources above what the state provides in per-pupil tuition payments. The Development and Communications Committee coordinates grantwriting, individual donor campaigns, and corporate partnerships.
FINANCE AND AUDIT COMMITTEE: Organizational viability is one criteria used to evaluate the quality of charter schools. The Finance and Audit Committee helps to create the school's annual operating budget, develop fiscal policies and procedures, and maintain the financial health of the institution.
GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE: The Board of Trustees is ultimately accountable for BArT's success. The Governance Committee works to recruit board members with needed skills and expertise, arrange orientations and trainings, and evaluate the overall efficacy of the Board.
